Not Your Typical Hospital Gowns
The Starlight Children's Foundation in Canada has redesigned hospital gowns to help hospitalised teens feel more like themselves! The 'Ward + Robes' initiative brings together the children's charity and leading Canadian designers. The goal, to create cool hospital gowns that teenagers would actually want to wear!
Brian Bringolf, the Executive Director of Starlight Children's Foundation said, “When a teen is seriously ill and the treatment is stressful, tiring and painful, the simple act of wearing a new gown can empower a teen when much of their world is controlled by illness...We can’t wait to share this gown program with as many hospitals as possible.”
The designers involved in the project include, Izzy Camilleri, Sarah Boyce Sargent, India Amara, Raegan Hall, Rebecca Nixon, and Casey Von Esteban. Using their creativity and experience in the fashion industry, they made the gowns as unique as the teens themselves. Teenagers helped too and were able to select the gown that best represented their personal sense of style.
The foundation hopes that the project will inspire more designers to partner with them and create even more unique designs. You can even get involved as the charity has made a downloadable pattern template available on their site.
