In Google Chrome, we have Bookmarks. In Microsoft Edge, we have Favourites. Either way, they are a massive timesaver for websites you visit on a regular basis.

This simple guide is for people who may not be aware the bar exists or have never thought about how much time they can save by adding certain webpages to their toolbar for easy access.

How to add a website to Google Chrome

  1. Go to the webpage you wish to bookmark
  2. Move your mouse up to the URL bar
  3. Click on the star (if you hover over it, it should say "Bookmark this Tab")
  4. Bookmark is now added
  5. You have the option to change the name of the Bookmark to something more friendly or shorter if you wish
  6. Click Done

If you want to change the name of the Bookmark on your toolbar...

  1. Right-click on the Bookmark on your toolbar just below the URL
  2. Choose Edit
  3. Rename as you require
  4. Click Save

If you want to delete the Bookmark from your toolbar...

  1. Right-click on the Bookmark
  2. Choose Delete

How to add a website in Microsoft Edge

  1. Go to the webpage you wish to bookmark
  2. Move your mouse up to the URL bar
  3. Click on the star with the plus icon (if you hover over it, it should say "Add this page to Favourites")
  4. Favourite is now added
  5. You have the option to change the name of the Favourite to something more friendly or shorter if you wish
  6. Click Done

If you want to change the name of the Favourite on your toolbar...

  1. Right-click on the Favourite on your toolbar just below the URL
  2. Choose Edit
  3. Rename as you require
  4. Click Save

If you want to delete the Favourite from your toolbar...

  1. Right-click on the Favourite
  2. Choose Delete

How to Show/Hide the Favourites Bar

If your favourite bar isn't showing below the URL, you can enable this in your settings:

  1. Click on 3 dots in top-right of your browser (below the X to close) to show the menu (the menu will open in a new tab)
  2. Click on Appearance in left-hand menu
  3. Scroll down to "Customise Toolbar" section
  4. Change "Show Favourites Bar" to Always
  5. Close tab/window (the browser will automatically save your choice)
