Qualitative Fit Testing provides a simple, cost-effective solution for fit testing of tight-fitting disposable and half mask respirators. In accordance with HSE INDG 479, fit testing should only be conducted by a competent person. A competent person must be suitably trained in the use, application and limitations of fit test equipment and methodology, and as such this kit should only be used by those that meet these criteria.
Competence can be demonstrated by accreditation under the Fit2Fit RPE Fit Test Providers Accreditation Scheme. This scheme has been developed by the BSIF, together with industry stakeholders, and is supported by HSE. Further details on the scheme can be found at www.fit2fit.org.
