BD Vacutainer Plasma Preparation Tubes (PPT) are a closed system devices used for separating and storing undiluted EDTA plasma. Intended for molecular diagnostic testing, these tubes contain an inert gel and spray-dried K2EDTA anticoagulant for achieving plasma separation. When subject to centrifugation, the gel migrates and creates a physical barrier between the plasma and most of the cellular elements. Using spray-dried K2EDTA instead of liquid additives, the plasma obtained is undiluted.
